The National Clarion is a nationwide club of which North Cheshire is a section. As a National Clarion member you get loads of extra benefits beyond just being a member of our club, including free 3rd party insurance . Read our National Clarion page to find out more about the organisation.

We welcome all potential new members, so please feel free to come along as it’s a good way to find out more about North Cheshire Clarion. If you like it, join the club after a couple of rides.

Don’t worry, we’ve got members of all abilities and we encourage everyone to take part. We never leave anyone behind on a ride and all take care of each other. Novice riders can join our leisure rides and the “Intro” rides take you through group riding

The road can be a scary place at times, but with a bit of help from other riders, your confidence will soon grow, there is also safety in numbers. On our club runs we try to avoid the main roads at busy times and stick to quieter routes.

Your bike doesn’t have to be fancy, just reliable. Once you’ve decided what sort of riding you like, you can then decide what to upgrade to, if needed. It’s always a good idea to ask around other club members for advice on what to spend your money on and sometimes have good quality used stuff for sale.

We accept large wheeled hybrid bikes but not mountain bikes on Club Rides. To make it easier on yourself, get some slick road tyres – it’ll make your rides far easier and more enjoyable! Hybrid bikes (large wheels) are set up similar to a road bike so are fine on rides, however mountain bikes have a different gear set up and do not mix with road/hybrid bikes in terms of pace.

You can but you’ll need your parent or guardian to sign your consent form. In addition, they will need to join the club and accompany you on all Club Rides, runs and meetings. See the Junior section for specific junior events/coaching.

North Cheshire Clarion membership now includes free 3 rd party insurance. CTC insurance can also be taken out via the club’s affiliation for as little as £15 when you join us or you can get discounted British Cycling membership (which includes insurance) as a club member.
